Special Waste Generators:
SEMCO requires Special Waste Authorization from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for contaminated soils other than basic petroleum contaminates. Petroleum based soils require a copy of the contaminates from a certified testing lab to be furnished to SEMCO landfill along with the landfill's generator report and manifest. Based on the soil contaminate the following tests are applicable: OA1, OA2, TPH.
The landfill will review the paperwork prior to the waste coming to the landfill and notify the generator if it is acceptable or not. There will be a $200.00 re-testing fee plus a $50.00 per truck spreading fee in addition to the per ton tipping fee for contaminated soil.
SEMCO will not accept sludges. Dirt should be fairly dry and will only be accepted when weather permits!
